The illusion

I received so many hits regarding my slimming tea I thought you might appreciate knowing about the slimming dress: its all about  the Illusion of having that hour glass figure.

Stella McCartney’s dress is $1600 and all the rave with celebrities and those with the deep pockets to afford this winning wardrobe staple. But there are more inexpensive versions that attempt to do the same. They help give a smaller curvier appearance even if they don’t give off that exact David Copperfield effect that the original does.

Either way, it is definitely one for the must haves list. Get it while its hot, ladies. And men take this as a friendly nudge of what your lady might like for Mothers Day or that sexy date night gift. You’ll certainly reap more rewards with this one than any flowers could get you.

DO YOU FEEL LIKE COOKING TONIGHT...IT'S QUICK- I PROMISE!

Here is a favorite recipe of mine that the entire will love Shrimp with Angel Hair pasta in a cream sauce Fresh Shrimp (any size, deveined and peeled; I like to keep the tail on...looks pretty) Fresh or frozen sweet peas (4 oz) Chopped Onions (1/4 cup, medium chopped) Crushed Garlic (1 tbsp) Heavy Cream Chicken Broth Extra Virgin Olive Oil 1 Lemon Salt Pepper Old Bay Lemon Pepper Seasoning Fresh Parmigiano Reggiano Cheese Smoked Paprika (preferably sweet but regular will do) White wine of choice First, clean the shrimp pat dry and season in a bowl with the garlic, onions, old bay, lemon pepper, smoked sweet paprika Mix ingredients well with shrimp then transfer shrimp to a doubled Ziploc bag to marinate. Pour in the white wine (half cup)and seal the ziploc for a few hours to the next day in the fridge. Once its marinated and ready to cook get your salted water boiling for the angel hair pasta. Cook for 4-5 minutes or until al dente. Dump all the contents of the Ziploc bag into a heated pan with some extra virgin olive oil in it to coat the pan with and stir occasionally to make sure all the shrimp get cooked evenly. Add more white wine (don't forget to sip while you stir ;-) and a quarter cup of chicken broth. Toss in the peas and add some heavy cream, salt, pepper to taste and cover until shrimp turn opaque and pink. Once your pasta is done before dump you dump the water it's in, pour a little of the starch water in your shrimp pan (I don't know why exactly but all the chefs do it so why not. I believe the starchy water acts a binder for the sauce). Now drain the pasta fully and dump it in the shrimp mixture. Use a tong or large forks to turn the pasta into the mixture well. Grate lots of fresh parmigiano cheese and fresh or dried parsley or cilantro over as garnish. You can use whole grain pasta and the kids will never know...tastes the same as regular pasta. Pour another glass of the white wine with your meal and maybe add some garlic bread and you have an authentic looking Italian dish enough to last your house for 2 days worth of dinner. All done in 30 minutes from prep to plate! Bon Appetit!

Gimme Ombre!

I know I don’t usually talk about beauty but this is one technique is a favorite for me on clothing and now on nails: Ombre!

It’s been donned on many celebrities and is a trend that is subtle enough to be worn for many different age groups. It works for all ages because its not some much the technique that could come off juvenile; it’s all about the color combinations you chose. Select wisely. You’ll hopefully chose a combo that shows your on the cusp of what’s hot for the season instead of looking like your trying to keep up with the Jones’ (who are these Jones’ anyway?)

Well whoever they are they won’t hold a stick to your nails once you get these on!

KIDS…

I’m just going to say it! It’s NOT always fun having the kids help in the kitchen. They make more of a mess sometimes than you have patience for the cleanup. REAL TALK sometimes I may let you have some extra TV or video time just so you can leave me in PEACE in the kitchen to get in and do what I do without having to keep checking over my should that you didn’t cut off your fingers, pick your nose or scratch somewhere I wouldn’t approve of while cooking! BUT when they ask I must admit you need to let them because you could be cultivating the next Bobby Flay or IRON CHEF there.
Sometimes it’s not the quantity it’s the quality time you spend with them in the kitchen. Here I made oatmeal raisin cookies and a few sugar cookies for my picky eater. It took all of 20 minutes (it should only take 6 minutes but kids slow you down so take the extra time to explain as you go and breath deep if they make a mistake…they’ll eat it even if you won’t, LOL)

I used a silicone sheet for the cookie sheet (little to no clean up, just wipe with warm soapy town and let air dry  & your done). Get some ice cream and let them feel accomplished in having made dessert SO THEY CAN GO TO BED with a smile J

Rock Your RED Ladies!!!

Rock Your RED Ladies!!!

Love is in the air....

Introducing Braxton Najee
Yes. I have been in hibernation for a minute. The infant stage is trying for the child (adjusting to new environment) and the mommy (adjusting my life to this adjusting new person)! I love this little person to pieces and find myself enjoying these earlier stages even though they are TOUGH! Now that my little Bryce has now become a big boy (just turned 9) it is evident TIME FLIES TOOO FAST! So I revel in the moments with Braxton good bad or indifferent because I won't EVER have these times with him again. He will keep growing and changing.
Now I get to have fun dressing him and his personality is starting to emerge. He is starting to respond to you with that toothless grin. Indeed, I am in love!
